The city of Statesville, N.C., will not change its flag size ordinance, meaning an RV dealership will remain in violation for flying an American flag nearly the size of a high school basketball court.

This story originally appeared on WFAE 90.7.

The Gander RV dealership has been fighting the city to keep its 80- by 40-foot American flag up, and it’s owner, Marcus Lemonis, who’s also the star of the reality TV show The Profit, has said he’s willing to go to jail for the cause.

Earlier this month, Stateville’s planning board recommended changing the ordinance to allow the flag, but last night, the city council rejected that proposal.
