According to a report from the Reading Eagle, Marine Acquisition Inc. has announced it will cease operation and close its Limerick Township facility — doing business as Dometic. The closure of the facility, located at 640 N. Lewis Road, will result in the loss of jobs for 89 employees at the plant.
Dometic will be permanently closing by Dec. 31, the company said, with layoffs of affected employees expected to begin in August.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act — known as a WARN notice — with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry outlining the closure.
In the May 5 letter to the department from Janine Waite, vice president of human resources for Dometic, the “entire facility will be impacted, except employees offered relocation,” the Reading Eagle reported. The closure is expected to be permanent, the company said in the letter.
The WARN Act requires that employers give a 60-day notice before closing plants or conducting mass layoffs.
The Dometic layoffs at the plant will be phased — beginning in August, with all separations completed by March 31, 2027, the letter stated.
The expected date of the first separations will be between Aug. 21 and Sept. 3 and will impact 64 employees. Subsequent layoffs are expected from Oct. 23 to Nov. 5; Dec. 18 to Dec. 31; Jan. 18 to Jan. 31; and March 19 to March 31, the company outlined in its letter.
