Elkhart-Based Assembly Masters Acquired by Bay Motor Products

Calder Capital announced the successful acquisition of Assembly Masters of Elkhart, Indiana, by Bay Motor Products, headquartered in Traverse City, Michigan.

Founded in 2000, Assembly Masters is a well-established manufacturer specializing in custom cable assemblies, wire harnesses and electromechanical assemblies to their customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. With a strong reputation for quality and customer service, Assembly Masters has built lasting relationships with its clients by offering a combination of precision manufacturing and tailored design services.

To secure a successor as they approached retirement, co-owners of Assembly Masters Deb Walters and Larry “Joe” Gennicks II engaged Calder’s Sell-Side team.

“After over two decades of building Assembly Masters, Joe and I knew it was time to transition the business to new ownership,” said Walters. “Finding a buyer who values our employees and the culture we’ve cultivated was essential. We believe Bay Motor Products is the right fit to carry our legacy forward. Their commitment to innovation and quality aligns with everything we’ve built, and we are excited to see the company continue to thrive under their leadership.”

Bay Motor Products, founded in 1982, is a leading manufacturer of electric motors and blowers for various industries, including HVAC, food equipment and industrial applications. The company has a long history of providing high-performance, custom-engineered solutions to a broad customer base. Most recently, a focus on lean manufacturing and achieving AS 9100 status has led to expansion into Aerospace and other demanding industries.

“Acquiring Assembly Masters aligns perfectly with our long-term strategic vision,” said Andy Robitshek, president of Bay Motor Products. “Their expertise in cable assemblies and wire harnesses complements our existing capabilities, allowing us to offer even more integrated solutions to our customers. We are excited to welcome their talented team into our organization.”

Jakob Simonds served as the lead Mergers and Acquisitions Advisor to Assembly Masters.

Calder Capital’s Sell-Side team garnered significant interest, the company said, resulting in 271 CIMs sent to qualified buyers and numerous offers received, ultimately leading to Bay Motor Products emerging as the ideal buyer.

Robitshek noted, “Throughout this process, Calder Capital provided invaluable, professional guidance. Their team made this acquisition seamless, and we look forward to working with Assembly Masters’ talented team to achieve new milestones.”

Gennicks stated, “Calder Capital worked tirelessly to make this sale a reality.” Walters added, “Jakob was wonderful to work with. Both Joe and I really appreciate his guidance and wisdom through this process. His commitment to us made us feel confident every step of the way. We are grateful for the level of care Calder Capital brought to the table and we are glad we partnered with them.”

“Deb and Joe built a fantastic business, and we were honored to help them find the right buyer to continue their legacy,” said Simonds.

“We are honored to have represented Deb and Joe in this transaction,” said Max Friar, managing partner of Calder Capital. “Their commitment to quality and customer service has made Assembly Masters a standout in its field. We are confident that Bay Motor Products will build upon this foundation and drive future growth.”

Calder Capital served as the exclusive sell-side Mergers and Acquisitions Advisor to Assembly Masters. Eric Seigel and Tom Hall of THK Law provided legal counsel to the sellers. Greg Luyt of Bowerman, Ford, Clulo & Luyt, P.C. provided legal counsel to Bay Motor Products.
