Elkhart County, Ind., officials have found three companies in compliance with the terms of tax breaks that they’ve received.

Elkhart County Council voted to find three companies in substantial compliance with the terms of tax abatements they’ve been granted in recent years. Council approved CF-1 forms for Alliance Aluminum Products Inc., Furrion LLC and Smoker Craft Inc.

The council said the forms show how the companies’ actual performance compares with the terms of tax breaks they received on expansions and new investments. County officials must find them in compliance in order for the abatements to continue.

Alliance Aluminum, an aluminum extruder, was given an abatement at the end of 2012 on a $1.4 million real estate investment in Bristol. The company planned to build a 60,000-square-foot warehouse with office space. The company also said it would add 10 employees with total salaries of $373,200.

According to its compliance statement, Alliance made real estate investments with an assessed value of a little over $2 million. It also added seven jobs with total salaries of $373,439.

Furrion, which makes entertainment and energy systems for RVs, received an abatement in late 2015 on a $4 million real estate investment. The company was planning a new U.S. headquarters and research facility at 52567 Independence Court, Elkhart.

It also projected adding 20 employees at a total salary of just over $1 million.

Furrion opened the 36,000-square-foot building on seven acres of land in May 2017. According to its compliance form, Furrion invested $3.98 million in real estate and added 45 employees at a total salary of $2.6 million.
