Elkhart Distributor Gets Initial OK for Tax Breaks
Elkhart city officials gave an early nod on tax breaks for a $4 million expansion in the city by Global Link Distribution Corp. earlier this week, according to reports from the Elkhart Truth.
The council unanimously approved the declaratory resolution that requested a three-year property tax abatement for the company that distributes fasteners and locks for the RV industry.
The matter will now be presented for debate at a public hearing at the March 2 city council meeting, where the city is expected to make a final decision.
Global Link has proposed building a new facility north of Middlebury Street in eastern Elkhart to consolidate its operations from three locations. The estimated cost of the project is $4 million.
The company employs 28 workers, and expects to add four more during the expansion.
