EnerSys Video Highlights Odyssey Battery

EnerSys has released a new video that highlights the features of the Odyssey battery versus conventional lead acid batteries.

The video discusses the evolution of battery technology – from lead acid battery construction to Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) battery construction – and how the Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology of Odyssey batteries provides increased power. Also detailed in the video are the advanced features of AGM battery design, including low maintenance, better vibration resistance, longer life and spill proof. Additionally, the video highlights the features and benefits of the Odyssey battery, such as slower self-discharge rates, longer life in high heat applications, vibration resistance and increased power density.

“We want customers to have a good understanding of the differences between yesterday’s technology and today’s technology,” said Alan Kohler, transportation and specialty marketing manager at EnerSys. “This new video utilizes animations and detailed cutaway views of batteries to explain the differences between traditional lead acid technology and the advanced technology used in the Odyssey battery.”

Odyssey batteries are designed with an AGM construction and TPPL technology for more engine-cranking power and reserve power than conventional batteries. Odyssey batteries feature a three- to 10-year service life and two-year storage life at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). They are vibration resistant and classified as “non-spillable” by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
