With Expansion Full Swing, Thor Struggles for Workers

Thor Industries continues to grow, but even as it expands its production facilities, the company is learning that staffing such production is a challenge.

Thor has a number of expansion projects in the works that will translate into hundreds of new jobs, according to WSBT-TV, but the questions becomes, with a low unemployment rate, where will the new workers come from?

Jayco is expanding in Middlebury and crews are building a second new plant. The first one was recently completed and is now in operation. The total work force in both will be around 300, WSBT said.

In Goshen work is under way to build two large productions facilities at Keystone RV.

Several new Heartland plants are being built in Howe, Ind., which will translate into new jobs as well.

Thor CEO Bob Martin says the company is making efforts and taking steps to fill the positions for the new jobs and trying to find ways to tap into the local labor force
