Fire at Bish’s RV Started by Class C Electrical System

UPDATE (4/9) According to the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire at Bish’s RV has been ruled an accident due to an electrical short of a Class C RV’s electrical system.

A total of three RVs were completely destroyed in the mid-afternoon blaze in Jerome, Idaho.

An investigator from the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office, along with Jerome City and Rural Fire Departments, spent Wednesday sifting through the rubble identifying the origin and it was evident what the cause was.

State fire marshal Knute Sandahl went onto say that because of the fuels involved and the intensity of the fire, this could have been much worse, if it hadn’t been for some quick thinking employees. Sandahl also credits the Jerome rural fire department, aided by Jerome City Fire Department did an outstanding job knocking the massive fire down quickly.

Firefighters quickly put out a blaze in the back lot of an RV dealership on Tuesday.

An RV caught on fire around 2:40 p.m. at Bish’s RV of Twin Falls near Exit 173 on Interstate 84, according to Fire Chief Larry Robbins with the Jerome Rural Fire Department.

The fire engulfed two other units, sending a black cloud of smoke into the sky visible from downtown Jerome.

Firefighters arrived and controlled the fire within 25 minutes of it starting, according to Robbins. No one was injured in the fire.

Bish’s RV General Manager Marc Kinnison thanked firefighters for responding and swiftly extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office will conduct an investigation on Wednesday.

The Jerome City Fire Department also assisted with the response.
