A fire partition protecting a Grand Falls-Windsor, Canada RV dealership’s showroom may have saved the company millions in RV damages, according local fire officials.
Grand Falls-Windsor Fire Chief Vince Mackenzie said 28 firefighters responded to a call Tuesday around 9 p.m. and found a building belonging to Islander RV on fire, CBC News reports.
“Crews made entry and tried to get to the second floor and just as we did that of course the fire came through the roof,” said Mackenzie. “So we attempted a quick knockdown, it didn’t work.”
The building had a fire partition between the showroom full of trailers, ATVs and equipment and the conjoining areas, according to Mackenzie.
“I’d say that the save here will be in the millions,” he told CBC News. “But the loss will probably be very expensive as well.”
