FMCA’s 104th Convention Begins Today in Tucson
“Sunsets and Saguaros” is the theme of FMCA’s 104th International Convention & RV Expo, starting today and running through Saturday at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson, Ariz.
Attendees need not be members of the venerable RV club. It will be a weekend of RV displays, exhibits, educational seminars, member gatherings, local chapter events and lots of camaraderie among the 1,600-plus RV owners who are expected to attend.
This event was originally scheduled for March 2020 but was cancelled due to COVID-19. The group was able to hold a couple of successful events last year, but this is its biggest gathering of the year.
“We’ve been calling this ‘Sunsets + Saguaros, Take Two,’” said FMCA events director Doug Uhlenbrock. “We were so close before, and we’ve had to wait longer than expected for our Arizona RV gathering, but we are very excited for this new opportunity. FMCA hasn’t hosted a convention in Tucson since 1985, so this visit is long overdue, and we are hoping that the fairgrounds will accommodate our needs well enough to become part of our regular rotation.”
One key element of the event is the RV Expo. Major RV manufacturers and dealers bring the latest models and invite convention attendees and members of the public to stop by for a tour. RVs in all shapes and sizes will be open for inspection during show hours. RV-related accessories, components, services and other products of interest to travelers will be available as well.
Admission varies as to how much of the event an attendee wants to take in. Those who would want to just purchase day passes are welcome, as are those who want to camp out on the grounds.
