In a pair of recalls announced Monday (July 25), Forest River will recall more than 4,000 RVs, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In the larger of the two, the company will recall 2,224 units from its 2013-16 XLR toy hauler lineup. These vehicles may have an axle equalizer knurled bolt (axle shackle locating bolt) that may not be properly seated in the chassis axle hanger.

If the equalizer knurled bolt is not installed properly, the bolt may not properly secure the axle, allowing it to shift and result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace any equalizer knurled bolts and nuts that were improperly installed, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 574-642-0431. Forest River’s number for this recall is 45-06102016-0208.

The company will also recall 1,999 units from its 2015-17 Forester, Sunseeker, Solera and Isata motorhomes due to the risk of water leaking into the electrical module that controls the tail, brake, turn signal, clearance and marker lights.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

The remedy for this recall is still under development. The recall is expected to begin August 18, 2016. Forester, Solera, and Sunseeker owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-206-7600. Isata customers should call 1-574-262-3474. Forest River’s number for this recall is 51-06012016-0206.

Winnebago is recalling 705 units from model year 2014-16 Tour motorhomes and Itasca Ellipse motorhomes, in which the throttle pedal position sensor on the affected vehicles may not return to zero, causing the engine brake to suddenly not activate as expected, reducing the vehicle’s deceleration ability.

Daimler Trucks North America has notified owners, and dealers, will replace the throttle pedal, free of charge. An interim notification was distributed to owners on July 8, 2016. Owners may contact Daimler Warranty Campaign Department at 1-800-547-0712 or email [email protected]

Entegra Coach, which is recalling 30 units from its 2015-16 Aspire and Aspire TK motorhomes manufactured July 14, 2014, to Jan. 15, announced a similar recall.

Owners may contact Entegra customer service at 800-945-4787 or Daimler Warranty Campaign Department at 1-800-547-0712 or email [email protected]

The same issue applies to a Thor Motor Coach recall, affecting about 487 units from the company’s 2014-16 Tuscany motorhomes.

TMC will notify owners, and dealers for Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), manufacturer of the motorhome chassis, will replace the throttle pedal, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Thor Motor Coach is also recalling about 122 units from its 2016 Tuscany XTE, Palazzo, and 2016-17 Venetian motorhomes. The front sway bar mounting brackets may not fit properly on the axle causing the mounting bolts to bend or loosen.

TMC will notify owners, and Detroit Axle service centers, subsidiaries of Daimler Trucks, the manufacturer of the chassis, will modify the sway bar mounting, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Thor Motor Coach Customer service department at 1-877-500-1020, or Daimler Trucks North America LLC at 1-800-547-0712, or e-mail them at [email protected] to locate a service center. TMC’s number for this recall is RC000117.

Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is recalling certain model year 2015-16 J4500 vehicles manufactured April 14, 2015, to Feb. 22. On the affected vehicles, the non-egress single pane passenger windows may have improperly installed mounting hardware, allowing the windows to open unexpectedly at the bottom.

MCI will notify owners, and dealers will tighten and secure the window mounting hardware, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in July 2016. Owners may contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947. MCI’s number for this recall is SB 433B.

Jayco is recalling certain model year 2017 Jay Flight SLX travel trailers, model 212 QBW, manufactured June 27, 2016, to June 28, 2016. The affected vehicles were manufactured with Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) and Tire Labels indicating incorrect vehicle weight. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.”

Jayco has notified the dealers that have the affected trailers and supplied them with corrected labels, free of charge. The recall began July 6, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-2833-8267. Jayco’s number for this recall is 9901300.
