Fourth Annual NHTSA Seminar Kicks Off May 1
Registration is closing in less than ten days for the RV Industry Association’s Fourth Annual National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Seminar. This seminar is complimentary to all members and will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind.
Understanding NHTSA regulations, as well as how to identify safety issues, will help members stay compliant and avoid needless noncompliance costs. More importantly, learning about safety and NHTSA compliance helps the industry to continually improve the safety of RVs for consumers.
This year’s seminar will focus on the potential life stages of a recall including: identifying a potential issue that requires further investigation, elevating such issue to a safety committee, investigating and identifying the elevated issue and administering a recall campaign; in addition to reviewing basic federal motor vehicle safety standards and the function of a safety committee.
There will be a special keynote presentation given by Bruce York of NHTSA and Trevor Lehouillier of Transport Canada, followed by a short presentation by Josh Neff and Michelle Rice of NHTSA on recall management. Following the presentations, there will be interactive break-out sessions where attendees will have the opportunity to discuss an assortment of topics with their peers, as well as industry compliance veterans and outside legal counsel serving the industry.
These topics include:
- Basic Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) Review
- Issue Identification
- Safety Committee Function
- Recall Investigation and Identification (2 repeat sessions – choose one to attend)
- Recall Campaign Execution
The event will commence at 8 a.m. at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and is scheduled to end at 2 p.m. with lunch included.
All interested parties are invited, particularly those that have compliance responsibilities, wish to learn more about safety and recall issue processes, or are involved in identifying potential issues that may need to be elevated to a safety committee and/or superior.
