Frank Pontius of Forest River Cargo Division Dies at 59

Frank W. Pontius, 59, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Aug. 25, 1958, in Elkhart, to the late Richard and Patricia Pontius.

On July 3, 1976, in Elkhart, he married Teresa D. Grider. She survives along with two children, Thomas J. Pontius and Mindy Mullins; a grandson, Max Mullins; two brothers, Steve Pontius and David Pontius; and a sister, Gloria Trosper, all of Elkhart.

Pontius enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the casino. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa to his family.

Pontius was extremely proud of his grandson, Max. Max was everything to Pa. The proudest moment was when Max caught his fist northern pike.

Pontius worked at Coachmen for more than 20 years and currently was the plant manager at Forest River Cargo Division where he worked for 18 years.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.

A celebration of life service for Frank will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pastor Davis Webster will preside and cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
