Giant Recreation World moved from Ormond Beach, Fla. to a new location in Daytona Beach on Saturday (July 9).
Specifically, the company began to trek at 5 p.m., when employees and a few volunteer customers drove 35 RVs in a caravan from the company’s site in Ormond Beach. The caravan trekked 1.5 miles north to a newly constructed facility at 280 Destination Daytona Lane in the Destination Daytona complex west of Interstate 95 in Florida.
“We’re staging a mass exodus,” General Manager Tim Karr told the News-Journal prior to the move. “When we get to the new site we’ll park’em and that will be the start of stocking the place.”
Employees also towed other RVs to the new site on Sunday. The new sales and service center was scheduled to open to the public at noon Sunday.
The McNamara family, owners of Giant Recreation World, bought the 7.5-acre site in Destination Daytona in mid-2014. Ormond Beach-based Strasser Construction built the new 24,000-square-foot facility, which is more than twice the size of Giant Recreation World’s current facility where it’s operated for more than 20 years.
