Michigan officials have come up with a new way to introduce the Great Outdoors to some of the state’s urban residents: the Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit, Mich. The center is run by the state’s parks and recreation division and provides hands-on opportunities for youth and families to learn how to enjoy the abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities in Michigan.
The center’s exhibits include: fishing, kayaking and snowmobiling simulations; overnight lodging options like RVs; duck blinds; and more.
The center receives funding from public and private sources, with the majority of its corporate funding coming from Michigan based ITC Holdings Corp., an electricity transmission company.
