Goshen-based Ivy Tech Community College is offering a 40-hour, five-day course that provides students hands-on experience for jobs in the RV industry, the Elkhart Truth reports.
“We created this one-week training program in order to give potential employees the chance to get a little bit of experience before walking through that door,” Ivy Tech’s Elkhart County President Julie Foster told the Elkhart Truth. “If you’ve never worked in a factory environment or don’t know somebody who has, it can be a little intimidating.”
During the course, students will tour manufacturing facilities of the course’s corporate partners – Thor Industries, Lippert Components and Patrick Industries – for hands-on assembly work, while hearing from guest speakers.
The course tuition is $50 and new classes begin every Monday for eight weeks following Feb. 2. Ivy Tech is accepting applications now.
The Elkhart campus of the community college is developing a Center for Workforce Training, which was proposed in 2012 and is currently in its fundraising phase.
