Jayco has received U.S. Patent No. D898,624, which claims a design for a raised kitchen in a fifth wheel RV. The design was invented by Mike Aplin, director of product development – Luxury Fifth Wheels. The Jayco Seismic 4113 toy hauler currently incorporates the design. This is Aplin’s second patent for the Seismic series, the company said.
The design includes an elevated kitchen isolated from the living room, which provides the user a more compartmentalized feel instead of having the kitchen in the living room. Additionally, a related patent application is pending. The 4113 floorplan also features a double pass-through storage compartment, a 13-foot garage, half bath, walk-in shower with a teak seat, and a side patio.
Additionally, U.S. Patent No. 10,214,131 and U.S. Patent No. 10,899,282 were previously issued to Jayco, both of which were also invented by Aplin. These patents claim inventions relating to vehicle container mounting arrangements, and at least one such invention is found in the Seismic outside tailgater camp kitchen.
“I would like to thank the entire Jayco Luxury Team, from engineering to operations to the purchasing team, for supporting me in developing this design,” said Aplin.
