Renuart will remain as the chairman of the IN3 board of directors.

Most recently, Kelly served as a principal for Sugar River Technology Associates in Vermont. Kelly also served as corporate vice president and president of roles at Battelle, a research and development organization in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, he oversaw engineering, science and support facilities serving national security, health, infrastructure, energy and environmental markets.

The Indiana Innovation Institute is an applied research institute that seeks to solve problems impacting the Department and Defense, as well as industry, according to its website.

“Steve brings a breadth of experience to IN3 that will continue to advance our mission to bring together the best minds from government, academia and industry to solve tough technical challenges for the U.S. Department of Defense and industry and to provide support to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division,” Renuart said in a news release. “His 12 years of service to our country as a U.S. Army Chemical Officer and U.S. Army Reserve Officer, and his experience at Battelle, is a valuable combination to help achieve many of IN3’s goals.”
