KOA Care Camps to Hold ‘Care Camps Big Weekend’ Next Weekend
KOA’s “Care Camps Big Weekend” is going virtual this year, enabling families all over the world to participate in this camping-themed weekend full of fun events from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
Each year, hundreds of KOA Campgrounds across the nation usually host in-person events and fundraisers at the beginning of May for KOA’s “Care Camps Big Weekend.” Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions mean that in-person events are not possible this year. Thanks to the creativity of hundreds of volunteers across the country, Care Camps has created a wonderful lineup of fun, interactive events for families looking to find some entertainment and adventure in their own backyards.
The fun begins the afternoon of Friday, May 8, and continues throughout the weekend to Sunday, May 10. For a $10 donation, families can participate in nearly 20 kid- and family-friendly events and activities, including: a live concert by Nashville Recording artist Stephanie Quayle; a family “bear hunt” scavenger hunt; arts and crafts; three different fireside story times; introductions to some animals you might meet while camping; kids campfire singalongs; an astronomy “star party”; a living-room fort building activity; kid-friendly yoga; and more. Plus, attendees can be a part of making history in an attempt to beat the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people making s’mores at the same time.
