KOA Partnership Launches Digital Campground Sitemap
Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) has partnered with CampMap, an innovative campground mapping platform, to provide an interactive digital sitemap experience on KOA’s website.
After a year-long beta test with select KOA campgrounds, KOA has opened the partnership opportunity to all 500-plus locations across North America. The initial launch of CampMap into KOA’s website includes a branded digital campground site map using innovative technology to map the campgrounds. The digital map allows campgrounds to input photos and details onto the map, providing a more accurate and realistic view of campground amenities and individual sites.
“My vision for CampMap is to share the maps, services, and data we create to benefit operators, registration platforms, and guests,” said CampMap’s owner and founder Simon Neal. “KOA is a leader in the outdoor hospitality industry who recognizes the value of our services and is willing to work with us to drive innovation. It has been a wonderful partnership for our first proof of concept for the use of our technology in this way.”
KOA and CampMap are projecting to launch a phase-two enhancement towards the end of March allowing campers to select their site from the digital map and seamlessly book their reservation.
“We are excited about the opportunities this partnership with CampMap offers our campgrounds,” said Nate Thompson, partner of KCN Campgrounds and owner of the Wisconsin Dells KOA Holiday, which has incorporated CampMap onto its KOA pages. “The map is a giant leap forward from the static pdf option historically available online. It’s a visually appealing and interactive experience for our campers. We look forward to the next scheduled upgrades to the platform which will create a full booking function – this will be a game changer for our business.”
KOA campgrounds interested in instituting CampMap on their site can expect a simple four-week onboarding process. After the map is published on the CampMap platform it will synchronize to KOA.com automatically. Onboarding and annual fees cover maintenance, map updates, and support from a CampMap representative.
