Koster Receives the 2018 James B. Summers Award

Bill Koster, vice president of specialty products at Protective Asset Protection, received the James B. Summers Award for his 25-plus years of involvement in the RV retail industry, during the RVDA Expo in Las Vegas this month.

In presenting the award during the National RV Dealers Association’s 2018 annual meeting, RVDA President Phil Ingrassia noted that while Koster’s company is a consistent financial supporter of the association and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center, “It’s Bill’s personal involvement that truly stands out.”

Over the years, Koster has led numerous convention workshops, written dozens of articles for RV Executive Today, and “has been a leader in pushing for ethical behavior when dealing with customers,” said Ingrassia.

“He has been a real leader in continuing education for RV dealers and has personally visited hundreds of dealerships across the country to provide strategic guidance and training on customer service,” Ingrassia added.

In addition, Koster is a member of the RV Learning Center’s board.

“In that capacity, he recently compiled, on his own time, a detailed report on how other industries are dealing with technical and service management education, which we shared with Frank Huglemeyer’s team at RVIA as the new RV Technical Institute gets organized,” Ingrassia said.

The James B. Summers award was created in 1986 to honor the association’s second Chief Staff Officer, the late Jim Summers. The RVDA board of directors chooses this honoree by a secret ballot from nominations made by members.
