For the fourth time in seven years, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest has won the “Park of the Year Award” from the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC).
The award, which Denny Quigley and his son, Gary, received during a national awards ceremony at the Marriott City Center in downtown Raleigh, N.C., recognized the Quigleys’ high levels of customer service, training, operational excellence, national directory ratings and community service. The Quigleys also received the award in 2011, 2014, and 2015.
Gary said the awards reflect his family’s consistent efforts to improve the camping experiences they provide for their guests. The Quigley family acquired the former Kozy Rest Kampground in Butler County in 2000 and joined the Jellystone Park franchise network in 2011 after making numerous improvements including: a pavilion, playground, mining sluice, jumping pillow, jump pad, fire truck, train, and numerous luxury cabins.
Quigley said the improvements reflect the efforts of their Jellystone Park staff, which has grown to 40 during the peak summer season.
During the upcoming winter months, the Quigleys’ maintenance staff will be upgrading more RV sites to 50-amp service.
“We upgrade about 15 to 25 sites to 50-amp service each year,” Gary said. Fifty-amp service is preferred by campers with the largest RVs who typically have lots of appliances and other electronic devices inside their vehicles.
