La Mesa RV Center has promoted Bob Upton to the role of president. Upton has held numerous roles within the company during the past 22 years, most recently as vice president of sales and service.
In his new position, Upton will be directly responsible for all operations of the company including sales, service, advertising, facilities and identifying growth opportunities.
“I’m honored to be part of an incredible company that continues to grow and raise the bar for sales and service within the RV industry,” Upton said. “The Kimbrell family has given me an opportunity to be an influential part of their business plan for over two decades and I’m grateful to continue to be a part of this progressive organization.”
Upton got his start in the RV industry while pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Arizona. In order to supplement his income, he worked in sales for La Mesa RV in Tucson and became hooked on the RV lifestyle, according to the company.
Upton has since been promoted into other capacities, including that of general sales manager, vice president of sales, and vice president of sales and service.
“Bob is a person with some of the most solid management skills that I’ve known. He’s a great problem solver and I’ve come to rely on his insight and expertise during his career at La Mesa RV, “ said Jim Kimbrell, founder and CEO of La Mesa RV, commenting on Upton’s acceptance of his new job. “I know he will continue to help us propel the company to even greater heights in the coming years.”
