Lemonis: Gander Might Leave Chesterfield
Camping World Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis implied he would close the Gander Outdoors store in Chesterfield and “move to a city that wants our employees,” according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
The store just opened Jan. 27 in the 66,000 square-foot building that was formerly home of Gander Mountain. It was planned to operate with more than 55 part-time employees and full-time staff.
Lemonis bought Gander Mountain assets in bankruptcy court in May 2017 and is reopening many of the chain’s stores.
“We have seen an overwhelming positive response to the opening of the Chesterfield location, which offers customers one-stop shopping to serve all their outdoor recreational needs,” Lemonis said just before the store’s opening. “We are excited to continue expanding our outdoor industry footprint and reinforce our brand’s presence, while supporting economic growth across the country.”
