Lippert’s ‘Pack Out 2.0’ Aims To Help People in Need

According to a report from The Elkhart Truth, Lippert volunteers were giving out about 5,000 boxes filled with food and dry goods, teaming up with food pantries and others to help people in need all around Elkhart County, Indiana.

The event on Thursday took place at Boys and Girls Club locations across Elkhart County, specifically Elkhart, Goshen, Nappanee and Middlebury.

About 40 volunteers were helping at the Boys and Girls Club location at Beardsley Elementary in Elkhart.

“To Lippert specifically, we have an obligation in our community to give back to the communities that we serve,” said Sophia Jones, human resources leader at Lippert. “I know that food insecurity is a real thing, and so hopefully the community is able to feel the love from us and from everybody who’s trying to combat that by giving back food to them.”

One box that is given out is filled with food items with a longer shelf life like cans of beans and vegetables, Jones said. Another box is filled with dry goods such as deodorant and soaps, she said. The company employees spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday packing all of the boxes before giving them out, she said.

“Every night of the week, we’ve gotten together, 200 to 250 Lippert team members at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds and packed boxes for our community,” said Amber Selking, chief leadership and culture development officer at Lippert. “And so, this year we went from Pack Out to Pack Out 2.0, and the 2.0 aspect is adding a drop site. We partnered with the Elkhart County Boys and Girls Clubs and so, we’re at every Boys and Girls Club across Elkhart County now actually hand-delivering to the cars of our community.”

Lippert is aiming to be a force for good in the community and serve other people, Selking said. The company not only partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs but also with other local sponsors such as Gymtown Food Bank and Pantry. Other sponsors included Milford Food Bank, Penske, Forte Funding, Welch Packaging and Fratarcangeli Wealth Management.
