Longtime RV Executive Lovell Martz Dies at 80

Lovell K. Martz, 80, residing in South Bend, Ind., passed away peacefully at home at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, after his battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born Nov. 3, 1937, at home in Mishawaka, a son of the late Cyril D. and Enid V. Martz, and he was a graduate of Mishawaka High School.

On Aug. 9, 1958, at The Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa, Martz was united in marriage to Lila J. Myers, the love of his life.

He and Lila lived in Elkhart County from 1965 to 2015 and moved to South Bend in 2015.

Along with his loving wife Lila, he is survived by his four sons, Knolan and Kim Martz of Osceola, Daniel Martz of Elkhart, Dana Martz of Corbin, Kentucky and Loren Martz of North Fort Myers, Florida; two sisters, Nancy Sorgenfrei of Granger and Donna Andrews of Mishawaka; and a brother, Aaron and Judy Martz of Osceola.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Knolan Ryan Martz, Kassandra Bradley, Jordan, Jasmine, Landon, Jonathan, and Andrew Martz, Katie Thomas, Lukas, Nikole, Kody, and Van Martz, along with six great-grandchildren, Kyrstiana, Kaleb, Emmerson, Baylin, Kazzlynn, and Kennedy Rose.

Martz worked from 1965 to 2010 as an executive in the RV industry.

He retired as vice-president at Sellers Mfg. in Milford.

He was a lifelong member and deacon at Apostolic Temple, South Bend, where he served as director of the orchestra for 42 years, played the trumpet and taught many students.

He served on the board of directors at Bethel College, Mishawaka, for 10 years, as well as the Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce.

Throughout his life, he attended several area colleges.

Services celebrating the life of Martz will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Apostolic Temple, 2221 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend.
