Michigan’s TerryTown RV Recounts Amazing June
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based TerryTown RV Superstore, which has been around for almost a half-century, had the single-biggest month of sales that the company has had in its history in June.
“It was over 400 (units sold), over 500 in deposits,” said Matt Kortman, TerryTown’s inventory manager. “We were scrambling to get units. It was a good percentage of first-time buyers.”
Kortman said he felt like the rise in sales had a lot to do with the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and that Michigan – like most of the country – had been under a stay-at-home order that left people itching to get outside.
He said the biggest sellers during the month were single-axle travel trailers and “stick-and-tin” models – towables with wooden frames and aluminum skin.
Kortman said the previous record for units sold in a month at the dealership was about 250.
More than 10 units a day made for a crazy month around the shop, he said, recalling his internet sales manager turning to him one day and saying, “Wow – just wow!”
“We had a lot of those moments over the course of the month,” Kortman said. “The numbers kept coming in and were just getting better and better … It was a remarkable month and something that was great to be a part of.”
