Move It! Michiana, an Elkhart, Indiana-based committee focused on empowering people to love and care for each other through community engagement and service, is hosting a community-wide 5K and one-mile walk/run event to raise awareness and monetary support for Bashor Children’s Home.

“Our community is incredibly fortunate to have a champion organization like Bashor – making waves in the lives of children and families,” said Move It! Michiana Core Team Member, Alexander Bicknell. “We believe in their mission and will be laser-focused on supporting the nearly 250 staff members and volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to build our youth in need. Their efforts are both testament and proof that it takes a village.”

Located in Goshen, Bashor Children’s Home helps with troubled children and their families through residential care, day treatment, alternative education, foster care and many other services.

“Bashor Children’s Home has been providing services to Elkhart County youth for almost 100 years – so we’ve been doing this awhile,” said Mel Mattix, board member of Bashor Children’s Home. “We never turn a child away who needs help, so it’s huge for us when an organization steps up to help support our mission and goals so we can continue providing these resources.”

The Move It! Michiana 5K & one-mile event will take place Saturday, Oct. 1, at Elkhart High School (West Campus) located at 2608 California Road, Elkhart, 46514. Family-friendly, the morning event will include local food and commercial vendors, music and more.

Pricing for the 5K and one-mile events are $25.00 and $15.00 respectively. Corporate and family discounts are available. To register and learn more information visit the website here.
