A new distributor hopes to bring more options to West Coast RV dealers.
Azusa, Calif.-based American Wholesale Distribution, which formed in June, is currently distributing to California dealers as the company grows its footprint in the region, according to General Manager Liane Reid.
“Our philosophy is great customer service and competitive pricing,” Reid said. “That’s what we’re trying to bring (to the market).”
Reid, who has worked in the RV industry for more than 26 years, most recently at Phoenix, Ariz.-based AIM Wholesale, said she hopes to deliver a full line of wholesale options, giving West Coast dealers more options when it comes to distribution.
“There are a lot of dealers that don’t want to buy from the big guys, or are looking for other choices,” she said.
The company has worked to build its customer base in California, which Reid said she hopes to grow into a regional presence, as the market dictates.
“At this point, our sights aren’t set on being a national distributor, by any means – we’ll grow into what we grow into,” she said. “Right now our focus is California, but from there, we’re looking to move up the Pacific West Coast into Oregon and hopefully into Washington.”
For now, Reid said that American Wholesale is working with about a dozen suppliers, including Thetford/Norcold and Lippert, and has warehouse space to take on new suppliers.
When owner Steve Wishek started the company in June, he sought out Reid, who has worked in the industry for 26 years, to run the new distribution business.
Since then, Reid and her staff have been working to sign up dealers and suppliers to get the business rolling.
“We’re just starting, so we’ve got suppliers we’re working with right now, and we’re talking with quite a few more, including new product lines, trying to get this thing off the ground, so to speak,” Reid said.
For customers within American Wholesale delivery area, the company promises same-day shipping and next-day delivery on orders before 1 p.m.
Reid said that the company’s current supply focuses on repair and supply parts for RV dealers. For now, that doesn’t include marine products.
“We have a niche in carrying a vast inventory in service parts, so that’s where we’re at right now, and it’s been a heavy focus of ours.”
