As part of the RVDA Convention Vendor Training +Plus Program, Customer Merchandising Manager Val Byrd of NTP-STAG shared her expertise on mastering the pre-delivery walkthrough process.
Byrd had some helpful advice during her seminar for dealers as they start the parts and accessories walkthrough process. She suggested dealers forgo the usual “RV starter packs” and instead come up with an “essentials pack.” The reason for doing so is that starter packs tend to minimize profits by limiting the number of accessories included, and most of the time buyers will need to replenish those items after a trip or two, according to Byrd. So, Byrd instead recommended an essentials pack that can be put together at different levels, such as Good, Better and Best.
In addition to essentials, Byrd suggested that dealers consider an “enhancements” focus on items such as satellites, mattresses, backup cameras and more.
