Jayco and Grand Design

Elkhart County Planning Commission members approved an expansion for Middlebury-based Jayco, during a meeting Thursday morning, the Goshen News reports.

According to county planning staff, the request involves the construction of a 26,000-square-foot building addition on the Jayco campus at 58075 Ind. 13, Middlebury.

Also approved by the commission was a request by Middlebury-based RV company Grand Design for flexibility in how it will be required to hook up to either a septic or sewer system for a planned expansion on its existing campus on the south side of County Road 2, just west of Ind. 13 north of Middlebury.

According to county planning staff, the approval is related to a requested amendment to a rezoning commitment, which will now give the company the option to connect to either public or private sewer for its sanitary facilities.

However, the approval came with two commitments, the first of which is that the development will be required to connect to either public or private sewer as soon as it becomes available in the area.

The second commitment states that the development will not be allowed to expand until such a connection to public or private sewer is completed.
