A special police unit is seeking to curb burglaries and thefts from businesses including RV companies in northern Indiana.

Police in the Elkhart County city of Goshen said their unit was formed to deal with such crimes in the city’s industrial areas.
The department says thefts had been increasing over the last several months, with items such as televisions being removed from completed RVs and from inside factory buildings. In one recent case, a man was arrested after officers spotted him burglarizing RV company Forest River.
In May, Michigan State Police said they’re recovered 17 travel trailers worth about $600,000 that were reported stolen from northern Indiana. In that case, detectives in LaGrange County, Ind., had opened an investigation after several RV manufacturers reported thefts of trailers.
