PRVCA Sets Hershey Industry Days Lineup

America’s Largest RV Show outlined its education lineup for the 2016 Industry Days portion of the show slotted for Sept. 12 to 13 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.

This year’s schedule includes technician training from Dometic, Cequent Performance Products, MoRryde, Dexter Axle, Atwood, and Lippert Components.

Gary Bunzer will also be conducting a NFPA 1192 Hands-on Leak Testing Procedure for Propane and Water Systems that includes hands-on demonstrations. Training qualifies for recertification hours.

In addition to technician training, Industry Days include a Distributor Showcase by Keller Marine and RV as well as Workamper Employer Clinic by Steve Anderson of Workamper News.

“Our 2016 education lineup covers a variety of topics for many segments of the industry and is free to PRVCA members,” Executive Vice President Heather Leach said. “We had strong attendance at the events last year and plan on bringing in even more attendees this year.”

Industry Dinner

Industry Days also offer a free dinner at the Hershey Lodge on Sept. 12 beginning at 5 p.m. The dinner is open to exhibitors, show attendees and PRVCA members. 

About: The event kicks off with hors d’oeuvres, drinks and a meet and greet with NFL’s Franco Harris. Autographed photos, footballs and mini helmets will be available for purchase.  A silent auction will also be held with gifts ranging from overnight stays to autographed sports memorabilia. All money raised will benefit the PRV PAC fund to aid in legislative initiatives in Pennsylvania.

About: In this training, you will learn about the basics of refrigeration: how absorption refrigeration works, operation, care & maintenance, difference between home & RV refrigeration, and proper installation. You will also learn the basics of ACs: how our ACs make a cold environment, operation of various T-stats, care & maintenance, operating a furnace with Dometic T-stats and what causes freeze ups. Awning basics will also be discussed: proper operation of awnings, care & maintenance, proper installation, and what stretches out fabrics.


Cequent Performance Products

When: Sept. 12 and 13; 10 a.m. to noon

Location: Power Play Room

Dexter Axle

When: Sept. 12 and 13; 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location: Lower Level Corridor

Registration Fee: $20 (Lunch Included)

About: Instructor Glenn Null will explain and identify components of axle, brakes and suspension systems. The session will include hands-on training on brakes, bearings, seals and measuring of axles and frames including information on the following: Jacking up a trailer, removal of the hub and drum, brakes and magnets, bearings and seals, brake adjustments, wheel torque, suspension and information on maintenance manuals.


NFPA 1192 Hands-on Leak Testing Procedures for Propane and Water

When: Sept. 12 and 13; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Green Room

Registration Fee: $30 (Lunch Included)

About: Join Gary Bunzer to learn the proper procedures for running a fresh water leak test and three separate tests to perform on the propane gas system. All procedures are in compliance with the NFPA 1192 Standard for Recreational Vehicles. The tests are to be performed at the RV manufacturer AND by the RV dealer before delivering an RV to the consumer. Both tests require special equipment (test devices) that cannot be purchased; they must be made by the technician. Each student will get a flash drive showing visually how each test is to be run, along with a detailed list of the easily obtainable parts required. Each student will perform a dry run through each test, explaining the how’s and why’s.


Atwood Mobile Products

When: Sept. 12; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Press Room

Registration Fee: $30

About: Atwood Mobile Products’ training clinic will cover topics for water heaters and furnaces, including service contact information, component identification, required tools and equipment, test in volts, ohms and amps. The clinic will also cover how to identify products by model and serial number l Installation – Gas pressure, voltage, ducting and return air


Cummins Onan

When: Sept. 12 and 13; 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Where: Locker Room

Registration Fee: $20 (Lunch Included)

About: In this combination diesel engine and generator session, Duane Fisk from Cummins Onan and Chris Crowel from Cummins Inc. will address the most frequently asked questions about RV generators and Cummins diesel powered motorhome drive engines. Learn about proper maintenance, operating techniques, exercising, dash lamps, fuel economy, common issues and service resources. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Learn about the various suspensions and enhancements available for trailers, the importance of preventative maintenance, as well as our NEW industry changing product.


Lippert Components

When: Sept. 13; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Champions Club

Registration Fee: $30 (Lunch Included)

About: Lippert technical trainers will present a seminar on some of the industry’s most popular components and systems. Technicians will learn about the components as well as troubleshooting on the following systems: MYRV – Control and monitor RV systems from one location. Motorized Leveling – Hydraulic leveling system using a one-touch auto-leveling feature.Towable Leveling – Hydraulic, six-point leveling system using a one-touch auto leveling feature and includes  an auto re-hitch memory function. Ground Control 3.0 – Fast, accurage automatic electric leveling. Auto re-hitch memory function and optional one-touch auto-level wireless remote. Schwintek – Lightweight, aluminum rail system contained completely in the slide wall. Secure four corner seal prevents leaks. This also includes the new repair kit.


Workamper Employer Clinic

When: Sept. 13; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
