Rhode Island Dealership Reports Positive Sales Amid COVID-19 Outbreak
One way families in Rhode Island are staying healthy against COVID-19 is by huddling up in RVs.
This story by Connor Cyrus originally appeared in WJAR News 10.
“We have a lot of people that are asking if they have family members that may be ill, they are asking to have their RVs set up in their driveway to be able to quarantine that person,” said Jim Tarro, owner of Arlington RV in East Greenwich, R.I.
But it’s not all doom and gloom for people who are looking to purchase an RV. Some have been using it to bond with their family.
“People that are saying ‘This is the safest way for us to travel and for us to experience the outdoors’,” said Tarro.
According to Tarro, business at Arlington RV has been really good this past week.
On a normal busy week, they would deliver between 12 to 15 RVs, but this week they have delivered 24 so far and the calls have kept keep coming in.
“Just the other day we had three people buy an RV completely sight unseen on the phone and we’ve never seen that before,” said Tarro.
Tarro said the most challenging part has been the influx in business and people wanting their RVs now.
“So, we are having to compress our schedule to try to help those customers out the best we can,” Tarro told NBC 10 News the dealership is in the beginning stages of letting people rent RVs, which is something they haven’t done in about 20 years.
