The Route 66 Network will host its annual meeting next week in Leesburg, Va., from Oct. 5-7.
The dealership network expects about 230 dealer partners and 30 suppliers to attend the private event to discuss the upcoming year, changes to its leadership board and to present its Larry Coker Award.
Last year’s Larry Coker Award winner, Randy Ketelsen.
Last year, Randy Ketelsen, owner of Wheat Ridge, Colo.-based Ketelsen Campers won the Larry Coker Award, which is presented to a Network dealer that best reflects Coker’s commitment to the Route 66 brand. Coker was a board member of the Route 66 Network who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
Due to the sensitive nature of the meeting, and the information being discussed among partners, Francis declined to give details about the event until after the meeting.
“We want to make sure our dealers are well-informed before their competitors are informed,” he said. “It’s very much an organizational and network dealer meeting.”
Francis did say that the Network will announce its newest advisory board members at the meeting, and he expects to release more specific details after the gathering.
“This is a competitive program,” Francis said. “Route 66 is exclusive; it’s not something that just anybody can join. … They’ve got to come referred to us by our dealers or one of our (supplier) partners, and they’re vetted to ensure that they’re customer-centric and provide great service.”
