According to the Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, U.S. Marshals arrested 54-year-old Benjamin Harris on Tuesday night in Waterboro, S.C.
Harris, of Lake Worth, was wanted on 10 counts of second-degree arson for a fire that caused $350,000 in damage at Waits RV Center earlier this month. Investigators said surveillance video showed him approaching the dealership shortly before the fire. And he disappeared in the days after the fire.
He’s being held at the Colleton County Jail, awaiting extradition to Palm Beach County. He also faces a federal warrant out of Fort Pierce for violation of probation on a charge of the use of explosives during a felony.
Harris faces up to 150 years in prison if convicted on all counts. He received eight years in prison following a conviction in 2005 for a chain of fires in St. Lucie County and West Palm Beach.
