RV Hall of Fame President Issues Letter Regarding Annual Dinner
Darryl Searer, president of the RV/ MH Heritage Foundation, has issued the following letter to those considering attending Hall of Fame ceremonies in Elkhart, Ind., later this year. 2020’s evening had to be cancelled because of COVID-19.
It goes without saying that 2020 has been a very unusual and trying year. However, 2021 will prove to be a year that progressively improves in comparison. As a start, we are determined to make this year’s induction dinner the best of all time.
The class of 2020 has been very patient and understanding as we have moved their date from Aug. 3, 2020 to Dec. 3, 2020, to May 13, 2021, and FINALLY to the second Monday in August (Aug. 9, 2021). On top of other positive outcomes, this date will avoid a National Holiday in Canada and allow for our two Canadian inductees’ friends and relatives to attend in support of this special honor.
The class of 2021 will also be held in conjunction with the class of 2020 on Aug. 9. We have thought long and hard to make this decision. Taking into consideration that this a once in a lifetime achievement and honor for each of the Hall of Fame members, we feel obligated to make this first class and exciting for all.
We promise that the night will not drag on! The cocktail party will move up to begin at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. We will cut short some of the early presentations after dinner and change the time limit for each inductee’s speech from three minutes to two minutes (and to nobody’s disrespect, this will be enforced by our sound crew). I am certain with all the challenges we have had in 2020, each of us will respect the others in attendance by adhering to the time limitations. We have decided that the speaking order will be strictly alphabetical of all 20 inductees and will announce their class as they are introduced. This provides a natural diversification.
We are looking forward to the biggest and best induction ceremony ever. Please join us to help celebrate and honor these two classes on Aug. 9, 2021.
Sincerely,
Darryl Searer
