RV Industry Provides Indiana Gov. Holcomb with Reopening Feedback
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb sent a letter to several Indiana-based industry associations on April 16 seeking input and guidance to help position the state to reopen. He stressed that everyone would need to be very deliberate and careful about how to emerge from the Stay at Home order.
The RV Industry Association worked with colleagues at the RV Indiana Council to share the thoughts of manufacturers and suppliers, as well as Indiana RV dealers, with the governor’s task force. Recommendations for both manufacturers and dealers were described in the letter, including: increased sanitation of facilities, with special attention to commonly touched items and areas; social distancing or use of personal protective equipment when that cannot be done; temperature checks and/or hand washing or use of hand sanitizer as employees enter; staggered employee check-in times; limited facility access to visitors; and following CDC or state and local health department guidelines. RVIA’s recommendations are in response to the governor’s request associations to identify the steps companies within the industry plan to take to resume operations and to identify requirements that will be put in place to provide a safe workplace for employers and employees.
Holcomb also announced a task force comprised of public servants and respected business leaders to help navigate the economic impact associated with this pandemic. He asked this group to serve as the conduit to the industry associations as the state plans for a responsible reopening.
