RV/MH Hall of Fame Grounds Now Part of Elkhart City

The following report is from The Elkhart Truth.

Two annexations requested by developers have been approved by Elkhart City Council – a move officials expect will not only expand the boundaries of the city but fuel growth.

The ordinances were approved Monday night.

Proposed Ordinance 25-O-20 was approved unanimously, finalizing the annexation of two parcels of vacant land – one located on Greenleaf Boulevard and the other at the east end of Vernon Avenue. This annexation was requested voluntarily by the property owner and will pave the way for a new residential development consisting of 19 single-family homes.

“These homes along with other select groupings of homes continue to add to the housing shortages that we continue to address,” Mayor Rod Roberson said in a news release.

In addition, the council unanimously passed Proposed Ordinance 25-O-21, another voluntary annexation that brings into the city an area commonly referred to as Elkhart East Areas C and E, located at the intersection of C.R. 6 and C.R. 17. This annexation includes the Casey’s gas station, the land north of it and, notably, welcomes the RV/MH Hall of Fame into the city’s boundaries.

“This annexation is being driven in response to the developers request to have a higher level of services that will allow the area to continue to grow economically in the future,” said Mike Huber, the city’s director of development services. “And this annexation aligns with the city’s annexation study completed in 2024.”

Roberson said the annexations “reflect the confidence that property owners and developers have in the city.”

“We’re excited to see continued investment and to officially include an iconic institution like the RV Hall of Fame within our city limits,” he said.
