A Utah-based trailer and RV supply company is expanding its operations to include a 173,000-square-foot superstore in Peoria, Ariz.
State Trailer RV & Outdoor Supply will host a grand opening at the new location Nov. 6, the Peoria Independent reports.
The supply company purchased the Peoria Town Center, which includes a former Walmart and Albertson’s store sites in the town.
Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat will give the opening remarks at the grand opening and ribbon cutting at 12:30 p.m. Throughout the day the business will have five food wagons; videos; and cash, coupon, and merchandise giveaways.
Peoria is the first city in Arizona in which the business has expanded its operations.
“The RV industry is strong and continues to grow in Arizona,” said Ray Hult of State Trailer Supply. “We have been involved in Arizona as an RV parts wholesale distributor for many years, and have wanted to establish retail outlets but were unable to do so until we had the opportunity to purchase the Peoria Town Center.
“Given the high population of users of the products we sell, we are establishing a superstore here. We are excited to have Peoria as a base location in order to expand into Mesa, Tucson and Las Vegas.”
The store will be Arizona’s largest RV accessory store, according to the report. The Utah corporation was founded in 1926 as a wrecking yard and auto and transmission repair shop.
In 1973, the company became known as State Trailer Supply and with the expansion of products is now known as State Trailer RV & Outdoor Supply.
A new Salt Lake City store was constructed in 1999 as a model for several new locations as part of a market expansion plan.
New stores in Ogden, Utah, and Pocatello, Idaho, opened in the spring of 2008, Idaho Falls, Idaho, in the spring of 2009, and now the new 38,000 square foot superstore in Peoria with a second Arizona location planned for 2016.
