Black Book has reported that the average selling price for motorized units was $45,384, which is down $909 (1.9 percent) from the previous month. Towables came in at $14,121, down $1,067 (7 percent) from last month.
One year ago, the average motorhome sold for $43,132 and the average towable unit brought $12,593.
Auction volume was up across the board: motorhomes increased 4.4 percent and towables rose 6.5 percent.
“We are solidly within the heart of winter now, and we are seeing typical seasonal patterns with regard to RV values,” said Eric Lawrence, principal analyst of Black Book’s specialty markets. “Motorhomes have dropped for the second month in a row, and travel trailers and fifth wheels saw their third consecutive decline. We expect this trend to continue for another month or two until dealers begin to stock up for the spring selling season.”
The average age of motorized units was eight years old (2012), and towables were the same.
For motorhomes (including Class A, B, and C):
