Although we are solidly into winter now, and brutally cold weather has gripped large parts of the country, Black Book figures indicate the prices of used RVs are holding fairly steady.
Although the volume of vehicles offered at auction has dropped, as would be expected for this time of year, the values of those that were sold actually increased a little bit for both towables and motorized units in the latest data.
Most dealers will begin to restock their lots for the upcoming spring selling season in the next few months, so Black Book is forecasting prices to begin to rise as the weather gets warmer.
Taking a closer look at the markets, the average selling price for motorized units was $43,435, which is up $303 (0.7 percent) from the previous month. Towables came in at $12,872, up $279 (2.2 percent) from last month. One year ago, the average motorhome sold for $46,135 and the average towable unit brought $13,533.
Auction volume was down: motorized dropped 5 percent from the previous month while towables declined 19 percent.
The average age of all units was eight years old (MY2011).
