RVDA Member John Howard Sr. Dies at 88

RVDA has informed its membership that longtime RVDA member John Howard Sr., founder of Howard RV Center, passed away on Jan. 3.

John and Ann Howard started their business in 1971, with three folding campers on a corner lot in Rochester, N.Y. They named the new company CAMPCO, and operated through many cold New York winters. In 1979, they decided to relocate the business south, to Ann’s hometown of Wilmington, N.C. The business grew from there and was passed to their children, Robin Howard Grover and John Howard Jr., in 1996.

Howard is survived by his children, Kathy Kittleson, Robin Grover and her husband David, and John F. Howard, Jr. and his spouse Chris Tucker; his grandchildren, Dean K. Kittleson and Lacy Anne Grover Horner; and his great-grandchild, Aubrey Ann Horner.

Memorial donations may be made to Wesleyan Chapel UMC or Good Shepherd Center, 811 Martin St., Wilmington, N.C. 28401.
