Dale Russell Hopkins Obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Dale Russell Hopkins, a cherished husband, father, son, and friend, who left us unexpectedly on November 26, 2025, due to a car accident. Dale was born on March 2, 1971, and he embraced the world with warmth and exuberance. He departed this life in Morinville, Alberta, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and intelligence that touched everyone he knew.
Dale was the beloved husband of Shelley Hopkins and the proud father of Matt Hopkins. He considered Matt’s wife Sarah as a daughter. He was also a loving Papa to their sons, Avery and Greyson. He was the treasured son of Sandra and Ernie Hopkins. He had a close group of friends that he considered his family. His life was a testament to the enduring strength of a loving network of family and friends.
He completed his CPA in 1999, although he only worked as a public accountant for three years. He dedicated the next 30 years of his professional career to RV City, where his exceptional skills and commitment saw him rise through the ranks to become the Chief Operating Officer. During that time he worked hard to improve the RV industry for both dealers and customers. He served as the President of the RVDA of Alberta, and later as the Chairman of the RVDA of Canada. After that adventure ended, he returned to his professional roots, and started again as a CPA at HLH LLP. He had only been there a few months, but was already very excited about his future there. Dale’s colleagues revered him not only for his business acumen but also for his genuine care for the people around him. His leadership was characterized by fairness, optimism, and an unwavering dedication to his team and the broader community.
Outside of work, Dale was a man of many passions. He loved the world of games, both table top and computer. Many nights were spent arguing and laughing with his friends over many different games. His fascination with LEGO knew no bounds, as anyone that has seen his collection will confirm. Dale also found solace and joy in relaxing at the lake, where he would recharge and revel in the beauty of nature. These moments by the water were some of his most treasured times, shared with family and friends alike.
Dale’s departure has left an indelible void in the lives of those who knew him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the countless stories of his generosity, his laughter, and his unwavering spirit. While we mourn the loss of such a remarkable man, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the countless ways in which he enriched our world.
We bid farewell to Dale Hopkins, a man of exceptional character, whose journey through life was marked by an enduring love for his family, a commitment to his work, and a playful spirit that brought joy to all. He will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
As we reflect on Dale’s life, we are reminded of the impact one individual can have on so many. His legacy will continue to inspire us, and his example will guide us as we navigate the path ahead without him. Rest in peace, Dale; your memory will be a beacon of love and kindness for generations to come.
His memorial will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert.
