Forest River CEO and founder Pete Liegl received the national RV Dealers Association’s (RVDA) Titan Award on Dec. 2. The award was presented at an industry function in Elkhart, Ind.

Liegl founded Forest River in 1996, with the vision of creating an RV company dedicated to helping people experience the joy of the outdoors by building better RVs. Described as an imaginative entrepreneur and active cheerleader for the RV industry, the award presenters noted that under his leadership, Forest River grew into the industry’s largest privately owned manufacturer.

Liegl sold the company in 2005 to Warren Buffett, bringing the prestige of Berkshire Hathaway to the RV industry. He was elected to the RV/MH Hall of Fame in 2009.

“Pete Liegl’s innovative ideas and leadership have fueled the RV industry’s growth,” said RVDA President Phil Ingrassia. “He has helped make the dream of RV travel accessible and affordable for all types of outdoor enthusiasts.”
