RVIA: Enjoy Summer Vacations Without Going Into Debt
A recent survey by Bankrate has found that 1 in 3 (36%) Americans planning to travel for vacation this summer are willing to go into debt to do so. However, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) has a more affordable solution, it said.
According to research by the CBRE Hotels Advisory Group, family RV travel to some of the country’s top vacation spots costs an average of 60% less than traditional travel methods, even when factoring in fuel prices and the cost of RV ownership.
“With the popularity of road trips and the desire for unique travel experiences, Americans are turning to RV travel as an affordable and flexible option,” said Craig Kirby, RVIA president and CEO. “By opting for an RV vacation, families and individuals can not only save money but also have the freedom to explore multiple destinations without overextending their finances on expensive flights or hotel bookings.”
The travel cost comparison study found savings of up to 60% for a four-person travel party, while a two-person travel party saves an average of 46%, depending on factors such as the type of RV and type of vacation. With these savings, RVers are able to still vacation while avoiding going into debt.
Many of the country’s top vacation spots, including national parks, coastal destinations and scenic roadways, have RV-friendly campgrounds. Travelers can immerse themselves in the beauty of nature, participate in outdoor activities and bond with their loved ones in a unique and memorable way. RV travel also allows vacationers to enjoy the comforts of home while on the road, with amenities such as fully equipped kitchens, storage for sporting equipment and a wide variety of floorplans to fit every family and lifestyle.
According to the Bankrate survey, 36% of Americans plan to travel domestically and 12% plan to take a staycation.
“Many RVers spend their vacations close to home camping at their local state park or enjoying the amenities at nearby luxury campsites,” said Kirby.
Go RVing offers vast resources, tips and inspiration for trip planning, operating an RV and renting or purchasing units.
As summer approaches and travel plans are being made, Americans can embrace the freedom of the open road, explore and enjoy America’s great outdoors, and create unforgettable experiences, all without breaking the bank.
