The RV Industry Association will be hosting a low-voltage wiring workshop at its Elkhart office on June 13 and again on June 14. This 8-hour workshop was developed to provide valuable hands-on training for all levels of personnel, including management, technicians, mechanics and engineers where they will focus on high quality, reliability wiring design and installation.
The workshop will be presented by instructor Robert “Bob” Wind. He is an experienced automotive engineer with more than 40 years in the field.
This exclusive one-day workshop will encompass a full spectrum of topics in relation to low-voltage wiring with the basis of upgrading wiring to conventional GM/Ford/FCA/Toyota “OEM best practice” design philosophies.
Topics of discussion include:
- Wire stranding, insulation characteristics, and type applications
- Connectors – single and multi-cavity; location, orientation, and terminal population
- Terminals – ring, splice, high-amperage; common installation mistakes and oversights
- Protective wire/harness coverings for protection against abrasion, heat, and corrosion – with specific manufacturer part number recommendations provided based on severity of application
- Fasteners – metal
- Harness location assurance via clipping and plastic fasteners
- High- and low-current cable routing
- Data bus wire routing
- Failure diagnosis and mitigation
