The RVIA Board of Directors named a new member during their Committee Week meeting held on June 9 in Washington, D.C.

Scott Thompson of Carefree of Colorado will fulfill the term of the company seat being vacated by Mike Farmer, the organization’s vice president of sales and marketing, who recently retired.

Thompson has served as president of Carefree of Colorado since 2013 and joined the company in 1998. He is a native of Iowa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor’s in industrial technology.

Other actions by the board include:

  • Heard an in-depth briefing from RVIA President Frank Hugelmeyer on the work being done to create RVIA’s 3-year Strategic Plan that will align the organization’s vision and goals with budget, staffing and programmatic elements.
  • Approved conducting an update to “The RV Consumer: A Demographic Profile” in FY2017. This research will focus on RV ownership characteristics and examine changing demographic patterns impacting future RV ownership.
  • Directed staff to investigate for 2018 and beyond the feasibility of holding the Annual Meeting within a drivable distance from Elkhart, IN in the early summer timeframe and moving Committee Week to earlier in the spring to better take advantage of the federal legislative cycle.
