The Young Adult Program is designed to help students with disabilities, ages 18-22, learn job readiness, community engagement and daily living skills. Students who are part of this class have graduated with alternative diplomas and have chosen to further their education with the program.

The tour, which took place on Wednesday, Feb. 4, was guided by Mary Smith, RVTI’s recruitment administrator. The students met the instructors and toured the facility’s workshop area. In particular, the group enjoyed interacting with the electrical boards, discovering how to bring lights and fans to life through hands-on wiring. They also explored the inside of an RV that was parked at the facility.

In addition to fostering engagement with the Elkhart community, the tour was also an educational experience for the group, encouraging them to learn about the job duties of RV technicians.

“The RV Technical Institute enjoyed hosting the Elkhart Community School’s Young Adult Program and guiding them on a tour of our facility,” said Smith. “The students loved visiting the location, meeting the staff and operating the equipment. The tour also allowed us to introduce them to the RV world, as well as the wider skilled trades. It was a pleasure meeting them and providing an enjoyable and educational experience.”
