SDG Launches backpAC, an All-DC Powered HVAC System

SDG has unveiled the backpAC, a patent-pending, all-DC powered HVAC system purpose-built for overland vans, RVs and specialty vehicles, according to a press release from SDG.
Designed to redefine off-grid climate control, the backpAC delivers industry-leading performance, rugged durability and unmatched versatility for those who demand comfort, SDG said.
The backpAC includes:
- 20,000 BTUs of cooling capacity to keep interiors comfortable even in extreme heat.
- 7,000 Btus of heating power for year-round usability.
- 500+ CFMs of airflow that can be ducted or set up for free-blow operation.
- Ultra-quiet Low dB, ensuring comfort without compromise.
Every backpAC system comes standard with digital controls, with optional upgrades for RVC integration or a wi-fi smart thermostat for app-based control, he company said.
The backpAC mounts on the rear of the vehicle, freeing up valuable rooftop real estate. This makes room for:
- Expanded solar panel arrays for energy independence.
- Pop-top conversions for additional sleeping or storage space.
The system’s ultra-rugged design is engineered to withstand punishing off-road conditions, ensuring reliable performance wherever the trail leads, according to SDG.
The SDG backpAC will make its debut at the RV Open House, Sept. 22-24, Booth 303. Attendees will have the first opportunity to experience this next-generation HVAC solution up close.
“With the backpAC, we’ve created a system that meets the demands of modern overland adventurers,” said Kevin Searer, president of SDG. “It’s powerful, efficient, smart, and rugged—exactly what overlanders, RVers, and Specialty Vehicle owners have been asking for.
